Wage & Hour
Under state and federal wage and hour laws, employers are required to pay minimum wage and overtime and to compensate their employees within a specified time frame, generally within a week of when wages are earned. Failure to do so exposes employers to liability for not only unpaid wages but also up to three times that amount in punitive damages. The wage and hour laws apply to highly paid executives as well as hourly workers, and employers are often unaware that they are violating the law until a suit is brought against them. B&M attorneys work with companies to ensure compliance with these laws and defend against wage and hour suits when they do arise. B&M also has extensive experience initiating and prosecuting wage and hour litigation on behalf of employees, including high-level executives.
